Why Slow Periods are a Blessing in Disguise (hint: January!)

Author: Isadora Connor, Atlantic Closing & Escrow

This time of year it seems like everyone is busy saying, "things are slow." And people are convinced the market will stay slow until the spring. Some among us are even depressed about the slowness. At Atlantic Closing & Escrow, we say – take advantage of this time of year!

The real estate market is always slow in January. It’s not news. Use this time to lay the groundwork for as successful a year as possible.

1. Review your network!

·         Who among your network do you think is ripe for buying or selling during this upcoming spring market? Reach out in a very personal way to let the prospective client know that you’re thinking about them.

·         Are there birthday cards to write? Home purchase anniversary cards to write? Even if you’re not going to send them until later in the year, write them now. Get them out of the way. We all know how far a simple handwritten note can get you – it’s just the type of reminder that a past client needs in order to refer you to a friend!

·         Will you be doing any online marketing / post cards? If you are using a service like Constant Contact, you can schedule emails now that will go out in the future and create a personalized drip campaign to your entire database of contacts

·         Order new business cards!

·         And so much more…

·

2. Are there Continuing Education classes you need to get out of the way? Find out when and where they are offered and cross these off your list.

3. Are there events you can be attending now in order to garner business in the spring? Chamber of Commerce events, BNI groups, social gatherings for organizations you’re involved in? As a Realtor, you have the luxury of meeting a new client at any type of event! Put these events on your calendar now so that you don’t miss a thing.

By the time the spring rolls around, your pipeline will be fat with opportunities. We promise.
